A Love Like Theirs

September 9th:

He wakes early to have her coffee ready every morning, and she bakes all his favorite things. They can predict what the other will say, and joke when it comes true. He is a little spontaneous, and she keeps him grounded. When a crisis comes, they handle it together; and when life is sweet, they laugh together. There's always a lot of laughter. She knows when to give in, and he knows when to push; and there's a mutual trust between them that can't be broken.

They're best friends. They know everything about each other, yet their time together is never enough, and nothing has grown old, even after all these years.

I think every little girl dreams of getting married one day. She dreams about her dress, her flowers, her groom. And though those things are all fun to think about, I always spent more time dreaming about love. A love that was devoted, compassionate, honest, sacrificial, complete. A love that kept growing, and changing, and getting sweeter every day.

A love like theirs.

Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad.
I love you.
